TUFTED COIR MATS
Kerala has
always been renowned for its priceless resources of coir, made from
coconut fibre and rubber latex, tapped from the bark of rubber trees.
Tufko mats are made using these natural and eco-friendly raw materials.
The viscose rubber latex is used to create a durable, firm yet flexible
base on top of which tufted coir of uniform colour and density is
packed. The same process is done with vinyl backing also.
THE TUFTING PROCESS
The entire
process is a fully automated process using a 40 meter heated Ptfe
conveyor belt system, mechanized coir feeding and precision cutting,
cooling, rolling and shearing. The Ptfe conveyor belt moves over SS
panels heated by circulating thermic fluid which is heated in an eco
friendly wood fired boiler. The rubber latex or PVC compound is pumped
onto the moving Ptfe conveyor belt and the thickness of the compound
is adjusted on the machine as per requirement. Spools of coir that have
been previously sorted according to size and colour in order to ensure
uniformity in product output are fed into the cutting head. The feeding
operation is closely monitored by trained staff in order to ensure that
the coir is fed uniformly and without breakage. The coir is chopped as
per requirement of pile height and pressed on to the viscose rubber
latex or PVC compound layer on the moving heated belt. As the matting
gently makes its way down the heated conveyor belt, the rubber latex /
PVC compound set firmly with the coir. The conveyor belt then passes
through a cooling zone maintained at a temperature between 5 – 10
degrees Celsius. Following this, the matting is separated from the Ptfe belt and rolled. These rolls of matting are then cut to size,
printed and packed before shipping as per customer specifications.
RUBBER MOULDED COIR MATS
Tufko also make rubber moulded coir mats in different shapes & styles with printing as per requirement.
